Central Silk Board Metro Station

Description

Once the Central Silk Board (CSB) Metro Station opens, traveling through Bangalore will become a breeze. Positioned on the  yellow line, this elevated interchange station connects the North-South corridor, and is an interchange station for the upcoming Blue Line of Namma Metro.

Once open for commuters, you can board a train heading towards RV Metro Station or head to Bommasandra. The Central Silk Board (CSB) Metro Station is between Bommanahalli and BTM Layout Metro Station on the yellow line towards RV Road. If you need to change lines, no worries! Simply switch at Jayadeva Hospital for the Pink Line or at RV Road for the Green Line, offering you unparalleled flexibility and connectivity across the city.

CSB Metro Station will become a vital interchange point once both the Yellow and Blue lines are operational, simplifying journeys across Bangalore. This station sits at the bustling Silk Board Junction on the Outer Ring Road – Hosur Bengaluru highway junction. Named after the nearby Central Government Silk and Sericulture office, the Central Silk Board is a statutory body under the Ministry of Textiles, responsible for developing the silk industry.

However, Silk Board Junction is notorious for its heavy traffic. The new five loops and ramps under construction at CSB Junction aim to alleviate this congestion. These improvements promise to reduce the long waits at traffic signals, a frequent frustration for motorists. And with the upcoming Yellow Line, traffic is expected to ease even further when the CSB station becomes operational by the end of the year.

Additionally, Namma Metro plans to construct a 250-meter skywalk with a travelator, linking the Yellow Line Metro station (RV Road – Bommasandra) with the Blue Line station (KR Pura to Kempegowda International Airport). This will be the first travelator of its kind for Namma Metro, enhancing the connectivity at this busy junction.

Looking ahead, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) envisions transforming Silk Board Junction into a major transport hub. The plans include establishing two bus stations, two-wheeler parking facilities, pick-up and drop-off bays, and multi-level parking infrastructure. With fare ranging from Rs. 10 to Rs. 60, and trains running from 5 am to 11 pm, it caters to both early risers and night owls.

Collaboration from the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), aims to seamlessly integrate various modes of transport, making commuting in Bangalore more efficient and less stressful.
