Shivajinagar Metro Station — Pink Line, Namma Metro

Shivajinagar Metro Station is an underground station on the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, at Shivajinagar. The Pink Line runs 21.25 km from Kalena Agrahara in the south to Nagawara in the north across 18 stations — six elevated along Bannerghatta Road and twelve underground through central Bengaluru, the longest underground stretch on the network. Only the elevated section opens on 13 November 2026; this underground section has not opened yet.

Shivajinagar is an underground station beneath one of the busiest and oldest commercial districts in Bengaluru. The area is a major bus interchange and shopping destination, and the station will give it direct rail access for the first time. It is one stop north of the Mahatma Gandhi Road interchange with the Purple Line.

Shivajinagar Metro Station Opening Date

This station is on the underground Phase 2 section — 13.76 km and twelve stations from Dairy Circle to Nagawara, the longest underground stretch on the Namma Metro network. It is now expected around May 2027 (the earlier target was December 2026). Tunnelling finished in December 2024; track, signalling and platform screen door installation followed, and platform screen doors have been tested at Mahatma Gandhi Road. Treat May 2027 as a target rather than a commitment — the elevated section slipped several times before its 13 November 2026 opening.

Getting to the Pink Line from Shivajinagar today

Until this underground section opens, the nearest working metro station is Cubbon Park on the Purple Line, about 0.7 km away. Every route from here to the open Pink Line stations ends the same way: take the Yellow Line to Jayadeva Hospital and change to the Pink Line for Tavarekere, JP Nagar 4th Phase, IIMB-Bilekahalli, Hulimavu and Kalena Agrahara. The previous station is Mahatma Gandhi Road Metro Station and the next is Cantonment Metro Station. With MG Road one stop south, Shivajinagar will be directly connected to the Purple Line and, via Jayadeva Hospital, to the Yellow Line for Electronic City. The Pink Line will interchange with the Yellow Line at Jayadeva Hospital and with the Purple Line at Mahatma Gandhi Road, and Nagawara is planned as a future interchange with the Blue Line towards Kempegowda International Airport.

Shivajinagar Metro Station Timings

First and last train timings for Shivajinagar Metro Station have not been published. When services begin, BMRCL has indicated Pink Line trains will run from about 5:30 am to 11:00 pm, with 5 to 7 minute frequencies at peak and 8 to 12 minutes off-peak, matching the Purple and Green Lines. These figures are BMRCL projections and have not been confirmed in a published timetable. We will publish verified per-direction times here once BMRCL releases the timetable.
