Mahatma Gandhi Road Metro Station — Interchange Station, Namma Metro

Mahatma Gandhi Road Metro Station is an elevated interchange station on Namma Metro in Bengaluru, serving the Purple Line, with the Pink Line planned. It opened on 2011-10-20.

One of the six original stations that opened on Namma Metro’s first day in October 2011, MG Road serves the commercial heart of Bengaluru. The Rangoli Metro Art Centre runs along the boulevard beside the station.

Changing Lines at Mahatma Gandhi Road Metro Station

MG Road serves the Purple Line today. It is also being built as the interchange with the Pink Line, whose station here is underground, directly beneath the elevated Purple Line platforms. The Pink Line has not yet opened — its underground section from Dairy Circle to Nagawara is targeted for December 2026, so no line change is possible here yet. Platform screen doors for the Pink Line have already been tested at this station.

Further interchanges are built or planned at Mahatma Gandhi Road (Pink), Jayadeva Hospital (Pink), Central Silk Board (Blue), Nagawara (Blue) and Peenya (Orange), none of which are in service yet.
