About the Chennai Metro Yellow Line

The Yellow Line (Corridor 4) is Chennai Metro's newest line, opened on 11 October 2026 — the first Phase II corridor to carry passengers. The opened stretch runs about 14.6 km from Vadapalani to Poonamallee Bypass via Porur, fully elevated, with 11 operational stations. Over 25,000 people rode it on day one. It finally puts Porur, Iyyapanthangal, Kumananchavadi and Poonamallee on the metro map — areas that depended entirely on Mount Poonamallee Road buses. At Vadapalani it interchanges with the Green Line, connecting the western suburbs to Central, Egmore, CMBT and the rest of the network. The six stations that are not open yet Between Vadapalani and Porur Junction, six stations — Saligramam, Virugambakkam South, Alwarthirunagar, Valasaravakkam, Karambakkam and Alapakkam — are still under construction. Trains currently pass them without stopping. We will update their pages the day they open. The eastern extension of this corridor towards Kodambakkam, Thirumayilai and Lighthouse is also under construction. Timings and frequency Trains run from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM — note the shorter hours compared to the Blue and Green Lines. Monday to Saturday, frequency is every 10 minutes in peak hours (8–11 AM, 5–8 PM) and 15 minutes off-peak; Sundays and holidays run a flat 15-minute service with no peak. Fares on this stretch are ₹10–₹40 (₹8–₹32 with a CMRL card). Data from CMRL official sources; timetable dated 23.10.2026, fare table updated 09.10.2026.
