Tavarekere Metro Station — Pink Line, Namma Metro

Tavarekere Metro Station is an elevated station on the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, at Tavarekere, Bannerghatta Road. The Pink Line runs 21.25 km from Kalena Agrahara in the south to Nagawara in the north across 18 stations — six elevated along Bannerghatta Road and twelve underground through central Bengaluru, the longest underground stretch on the network. The line has not yet opened to passengers.

Previously referred to as Swagath Road Cross, Tavarekere is the northern end of the Pink Line’s elevated Phase 1 section. Until the underground stretch opens, this is where Pink Line trains will terminate, making it the transfer point for anyone continuing into central Bengaluru by road or bus.

Tavarekere Metro Station Opening Date

The elevated Phase 1 section, six stations from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere, has not opened. It has slipped repeatedly: from December 2025, to May 2026, to July 2026, to a 15 August 2026 target that was also missed. The remaining blocker is a single independent safety assessment certificate for the signalling system.

Expected opening: Late August or early September 2026 (Phase 1, elevated). Status verified 31 August 2026.

Pink Line Phase 1 timeline

• Dec 2024 — Tunnelling completed. The last of nine tunnel boring machines, Bhadra, broke through at Nagawara.
• Apr–May 2026 — RDSO oscillation and emergency braking distance trials on the elevated section.
• 4 Jun 2026 — RDSO issued the speed certificate after 12 days of oscillation trials. Trains cleared for 90 kmph.
• 14 Aug 2026 — CMRS inspection of the Kalena Agrahara–Tavarekere stretch concluded. Trains and stations passed, but clearance was withheld pending the independent signalling safety assessment certificate.
• 15 Aug 2026 — The target opening date was missed.
• Now — BMRCL expects the elevated section to open in late August or early September 2026, once the signalling certificate and formal CMRS clearance are issued.

Tavarekere Metro Station Map & Route Map

The previous station is Jayadeva Hospital Metro Station. This is the northern terminus of the line. Phase 1 will run only as far as Tavarekere. The onward underground section to Dairy Circle, MG Road and Nagawara is targeted for December 2026. The Pink Line will interchange with the Yellow Line at Jayadeva Hospital and with the Purple Line at Mahatma Gandhi Road, and Nagawara is planned as a future interchange with the Blue Line towards Kempegowda International Airport.

The station serves Tavarekere and the Swagath Road Cross junction on Bannerghatta Road, close to the BTM Layout and Dairy Circle approaches.

Tavarekere Metro Station Timings

First and last train timings for Tavarekere Metro Station have not been published. When services begin, BMRCL has indicated Pink Line trains will run from about 5:30 am to 11:00 pm, with 5 to 7 minute frequencies at peak and 8 to 12 minutes off-peak, matching the Purple and Green Lines. These figures are BMRCL projections and have not been confirmed in a published timetable. We will publish verified per-direction times here once BMRCL releases the timetable.
