Bannerghatta Road Commuter’s Guide to the Pink Line: What Actually Changes on Day One

When the Pink Line’s elevated section opens, Bannerghatta Road gets six metro stations and, for the first time, a rail escape from its own traffic. This is the practical guide: which station serves your stretch of the road, which journeys become dramatically easier, what the access on foot really looks like, and what to check before opening week.

Which station is yours?

Station Serves Landmark
Kalena Agrahara Gottigere, Bannerghatta Road south, beyond NICE Road Southern terminus
Hulimavu Hulimavu, Bannerghatta Road residential belt Hulimavu Gate
IIM Bangalore Bilekahalli, IIMB campus side Beside the IIMB campus
JP Nagar 4th Phase JP Nagar’s eastern phases, Outer Ring Road junction Near Vega City Mall
Jayadeva Hospital Jayadeva junction, hospital, interchange to Yellow Line Tallest station on the network – five levels
Tavarekere Tavarekere, towards Dairy Circle side Previously called Swagath Road Cross

Note for JP Nagar residents: JP Nagar 4th Phase is not the existing JP Nagar station on the Green Line – they are different stations, kilometres apart, on different lines. If someone says “JP Nagar metro”, ask which one.

The journeys that change completely

The interchange at Jayadeva Hospital connects Bannerghatta Road to the Yellow Line – and through it, to the Outer Ring Road and Electronic City. Every trip below is a single change, one ticket:

Journey Stops Fare (est.) Today’s alternative
Kalena Agrahara → Central Silk Board 6 ₹30 Bannerghatta Rd + ORR by road
Kalena Agrahara → Electronic City 13 ₹60 A long drive through Silk Board junction
Hulimavu → BTM Layout 4 ₹20 Peak-hour crawl on Bannerghatta Rd
JP Nagar 4th Phase → RV Road (Green Line access) 3 ₹20 Auto across to Kanakapura Road side

Full station-to-station pricing is in our Pink Line fare chart. Fares are single-ticket – you do not pay again at the interchange.

The honest part getting to the station on foot

Pedestrian access to several stations remains poor. At Kalena Agrahara, the approach from Gottigere and beyond NICE Road has stretches with no footpath at all, open drains alongside, and existing footpaths blocked by mud and waste. A temporary bus stop near the Himagiri Main Road junction has come up beside an open drain.

If you plan to walk to the station rather than drive, check your route before the first week rather than on it. For first-mile options from your doorstep, the Live Navigator finds your nearest station and routes you to it.

Day-one practicalities

  • Get a smart card before opening day. Token queues at new stations on opening week are long everywhere on the network’s history; a card skips them and costs less per ride.
  • Timings will be published at opening. Namma Metro services generally start between 04:15 and 05:00 on weekdays and 07:00 on Sundays, with last trains between 22:45 and 23:05 depending on line and direction. Expect the Pink Line schedule alongside the official launch; our live status page tracks every update.
  • The interchange at Jayadeva is vertical. Five levels – budget a few extra minutes for your first change until you learn the station.
  • Underground section comes later. Day one covers the six elevated stations only; Dairy Circle to Nagawara follows in a later phase.

Frequently asked questions

When does the Pink Line open?

The elevated Kalena Agrahara-Tavarekere section is complete; after the end-September window passed, the opening is expected after mid-October 2026, pending final CMRS clearance. Our live status page is updated as this changes.

Which Bannerghatta Road areas get a station on day one?

Gottigere/Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, Bilekahalli (IIM Bangalore), JP Nagar 4th Phase near Vega City Mall, the Jayadeva junction, and Tavarekere.

How do I reach Electronic City from Bannerghatta Road by metro?

Board any Pink Line station, change at Jayadeva Hospital to a Bommasandra-bound Yellow Line train, and get off at Electronic City. One ticket, one change.

Is there parking at the new stations?

Facility details including parking are listed on each station’s page – see the table above for links.

Does the Pink Line reach Whitefield or Majestic on day one?

Not directly. The Purple Line interchange (Mahatma Gandhi Road) is on the underground section, which opens in a later phase. Until then, Purple Line trips involve Yellow to RV Road, then Green towards Majestic.
