Namma Metro runs from 5:00 AM to around 11:00 PM on most days – but the exact first and last train depends on the line, the direction and the day of the week. This page has every timing that matters, taken from BMRCL’s official timetable: first and last trains on the Purple, Green and Yellow Lines for weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, how often trains come through the day, and how to time the last train from your station.
The short answer: Namma Metro service hours
| Day | First train | Last train (from terminals) |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 4:15 AM (Purple & Green); 5:05 AM (Yellow) | 10:45 PM – 11:05 PM |
| Tuesday – Friday | 5:00 AM (Purple & Green); 6:00 AM (Yellow) | 10:45 PM – 11:05 PM |
| Saturday | 5:00 AM (Purple & Green); 6:00 AM (Yellow) | 10:45 PM – 11:05 PM |
| Sunday | 7:00 AM (all lines) | 10:45 PM – 11:05 PM |
Three things trip people up: Mondays start earlier than any other day (4:15 AM on the Purple and Green Lines), Sundays start late (7:00 AM everywhere), and last trains leave the terminal stations at these times – they pass intermediate stations later, often well past 11:30 PM. More on that below.
Purple Line timings (Whitefield – Challaghatta)
| Day | First from Whitefield | First from Challaghatta | Last from Whitefield | Last from Challaghatta |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 4:15 AM | 4:15 AM | 10:45 PM | 11:05 PM |
| Tue-Fri | 5:00 AM | 5:00 AM | 10:45 PM | 11:05 PM |
| Saturday | 5:00 AM | 5:00 AM | 10:45 PM | 11:05 PM |
| Sunday | 7:00 AM | 7:00 AM | 10:45 PM | 11:05 PM |
Through the day, Purple Line trains run every 8-10 minutes, stretching to 15-20 minutes in the first and last half hour of service. On weekday peaks, extra short-loop trains run every 5 minutes between Garudachar Palya and Mysore Road (roughly 7:00-10:30 AM and 4:30-8:30 PM), so the core stretch through Indiranagar, MG Road and Majestic sees a train every few minutes.

Green Line timings (Madavara – Silk Institute)
| Day | First from Madavara | First from Silk Institute | Last from Madavara | Last from Silk Institute |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 4:15 AM | 4:15 AM | 10:57 PM | 11:05 PM |
| Tue-Fri | 5:00 AM | 5:00 AM | 10:57 PM | 11:05 PM |
| Saturday | 5:00 AM | 5:00 AM | 11:00 PM | 11:05 PM |
| Sunday | 7:00 AM | 7:00 AM | 11:00 PM | 11:05 PM |
Base frequency is every 8-11 minutes through the day. On weekday peaks, short-loop trains run every 5 minutes between Nagasandra (Peenya Industry) and Yelachenahalli – the stretch through Majestic, Mantri Square and National College – roughly 6:40-10:30 AM and 4:30-8:30 PM.

Yellow Line timings (RV Road – Bommasandra)
| Day | First from RV Road | First from Bommasandra | Last from RV Road | Last from Bommasandra |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 5:05 AM | 5:05 AM | 11:55 PM | 10:42 PM |
| Tue-Fri | 6:00 AM | 6:00 AM | 11:55 PM | 10:42 PM |
| Saturday | 6:00 AM | 6:00 AM | 11:55 PM | 10:42 PM |
| Sunday | 7:00 AM | 7:00 AM | 11:55 PM | 10:42 PM |
The Yellow Line is the odd one out, and the asymmetry matters if you live along it: the last train towards Bommasandra and Electronic City leaves RV Road at 11:55 PM – the latest train on the whole network – but the last train back from Bommasandra towards RV Road leaves at 10:42 PM. Late evening in the city? You can get home to Electronic City past midnight. Late evening in Electronic City? Leave by 10:42 PM, or it’s a cab.
Frequency runs every 6-10 minutes on weekday peaks and every 10-12 minutes otherwise. Full line details: Yellow Line stations and map.
When does the last train reach YOUR station?
The times above are departures from the terminal stations. The last train then takes roughly 2 minutes per station to work its way down the line – so an 11:05 PM departure from Challaghatta passes Majestic around 11:35 PM and reaches MG Road around 11:45 PM. Rules of thumb:
- Mid-line stations get the last train 20-45 minutes after the terminal time. The closer you are to where the train terminates, the earlier your cutoff in the other direction.
- Changing lines? The connection is your real deadline. At Majestic, the last Green Line trains pass around 11:30-11:40 PM; at RV Road, the last Yellow Line train towards Bommasandra waits till 11:55 PM. Aim to start your first leg before 11:00 PM.

Why Monday mornings start at 4:15 AM
BMRCL runs earlier trains on Monday mornings (4:15 AM on the Purple and Green Lines, 5:05 AM on the Yellow Line) for the start-of-week rush – early shifts, airport runs and long-distance train connections out of City Railway Station and KSR. If you need the metro before 5 AM on any other weekday, it isn’t there yet – plan for the 5:00 AM first train instead.
Festival days, match days and extensions
These are the standard timings. BMRCL regularly extends service for big events – cricket nights at Chinnaswamy, New Year’s Eve, major festivals – and announces extensions on its social channels a day or two ahead. On event days, token queues are the bigger problem: carry a smart card or use a WhatsApp QR ticket. (Going to a match? Here’s our Chinnaswamy match-day metro guide.)
