Namma Metro Interchange Stations How to Change Lines at Majestic, RV Road and Jayadeva (2026)

Namma Metro interchange stations explained: levels, platform numbers and how to change lines at Majestic, RV Road and Jayadeva Hospital.

Namma Metro Interchange Stations How to Change Lines at Majestic, RV Road and Jayadeva (2026)

Updated 6 November 2026. Bengaluru has two working Namma Metro interchange stations today: Majestic (Nadaprabhu Kempegowda), where the Purple and Green Lines meet, and RV Road, where the Green Line meets the Yellow Line. Jayadeva Hospital becomes the third on 13 November 2026, when the first section of the Pink Line opens above the Yellow Line.

This guide covers all three Namma Metro interchange stations: which line is on which level, every platform number, and the route you actually walk when you change. Each station has a 3D drawing, so you can see what is above and below you before you get there. The drawings are schematic and not to scale.

Platform numbers at every interchange

The quickest way to change lines without a wrong turn is to know your platform number before you get off. Here is every platform at all three stations, with the direction each one serves.

Majestic (Nadaprabhu Kempegowda): Purple and Green Lines

Majestic is the oldest and busiest interchange on Namma Metro. The underground station sits beside KSR Bengaluru City railway station and the Kempegowda bus station. The Purple Line opened here on 30 April 2016 and the Green Line platforms on 18 June 2017. It has four levels: the street entrances, a ticket floor (mezzanine), the Purple Line, and the Green Line at the bottom. The two lines cross at right angles, so the Green Line platform runs underneath the Purple Line tracks. Deccan Chronicle called it the largest underground metro station in Asia when the Green Line opened, with 48,000 square metres of floor space.

Majestic: the Purple Line level, with platform 1 for Whitefield and platform 2 for Challaghatta on opposite sides of the tracks.

Purple Line level (first underground level)

The Purple Line has two side platforms, one on each side of the two tracks. Platform 1 is for Whitefield (next station: Sir M. Visveshwaraya, Central College) and platform 2 is for Challaghatta (next station: City Railway Station). Because the two platforms are on opposite sides of the tracks, it matters which way you go up: pick your direction before you reach the Purple Line level.

Majestic: the Green Line island platform, one level below the Purple Line. Platform 3 for Madavara, platform 4 for Silk Institute.

Green Line level (one level below)

The Green Line has a single island platform between its two tracks. Platform 3 is for Madavara (next station: Sampige Road) and platform 4 is for Silk Institute (next station: Chikkapete). Both directions board from the same platform, so on the Green Line you cannot end up on the wrong side; just check the train indicator.

How to change at Majestic

  • Purple to Green: get off and follow the Green Line signs one level down to the island platform. Take platform 3 for Madavara (Yeshwanthpur, Peenya) or platform 4 for Silk Institute (Jayanagar, RV Road, Banashankari).
  • Green to Purple: go one level up and read the signs before you take the escalator: platform 1 for Whitefield (MG Road, Indiranagar, KR Puram) and platform 2 for Challaghatta (Vijayanagar, Mysuru Road, Kengeri).
  • Leaving the station: exit A and A1 lead to KSR railway station and bus station terminals 2 and 2A; B to Chikka Lalbagh; C to Upparpete police station and Tank Bund Road; D to the walkway through bus station terminal 1 and the BMTC complex.
  • Rush hours: this is the busiest station on the network, so on weekday mornings and evenings expect queues at the escalators between the two levels.

RV Road: Green and Yellow Lines

RV Road (Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road) is an elevated station on the Green Line between Jayanagar and Banashankari, and since August 2025 it has also been the starting point of the Yellow Line to Electronic City and Bommasandra. Unlike Majestic and Jayadeva, the two lines are not stacked: the Green and Yellow platforms stand side by side at the same height, and you change through the ticket floor underneath. Just outside the station the Yellow Line viaduct climbs and crosses over the Green Line at about 19.8 metres.

RV Road: Green and Yellow platforms side by side. To change, go down to the ticket floor, across, and back up.

Platforms at RV Road

Green Line: platform 1 for Madavara (northbound, via Jayanagar and Majestic) and platform 2 for Silk Institute (southbound, via Banashankari). Yellow Line: platform 3 for Delta Electronics Bommasandra. Every Yellow Line train that leaves RV Road goes the same way, so there is no direction to choose. Platform 4 is where trains from Bommasandra arrive and terminate.

How to change at RV Road

  • Green to Yellow: get off, go down to the ticket floor, walk across to the Yellow Line side and go up to platform 3. Yellow Line trains begin their journey here, so you board a train that starts empty.
  • Yellow to Green: you arrive on platform 4. Go down to the ticket floor, across, and up to platform 1 for Jayanagar and Majestic or platform 2 for Banashankari and Silk Institute.
  • It takes longer than Majestic: the change is two escalator rides plus a walk across the ticket floor, so allow a few extra minutes.
  • Leaving the station: exit A for Jayanagar 5th Block, B for Jayanagar 8th Block (with a lift) and C for Jayanagar 7th Block.

Jayadeva Hospital: Pink and Yellow Lines (India’s tallest metro station)

Jayadeva Hospital stands over the Outer Ring Road junction next to the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences. BMRCL describes it as the tallest metro station in India: the Pink Line track is about 29 metres above the road and the roof about 38 metres. The Yellow Line platforms opened in August 2025. The Pink Line platforms on the top level open with the line’s first section, six stations from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere, inaugurated on 13 November 2026. For the full station story, see our Jayadeva Hospital station guide.

Platforms at Jayadeva Hospital

Yellow Line: platform 1 for RV Road (westbound, next station Ragigudda) and platform 2 for Delta Electronics Bommasandra (eastbound, next station BTM Layout, then Silk Board and Electronic City). Pink Line, expected: platform 3 for Tavarekere (northbound, the end of the first section) and platform 4 for Kalena Agrahara (southbound, via JP Nagar 4th Phase, IIM Bangalore and Hulimavu).

How to change at Jayadeva Hospital

  • Pink to Yellow: go one level down. Platform 2 for BTM Layout, Silk Board, Electronic City and Bommasandra; platform 1 for RV Road, where you can change again to the Green Line.
  • Yellow to Pink: go one level up. Platform 4 for JP Nagar 4th Phase, IIM Bangalore, Hulimavu and Kalena Agrahara; platform 3 for Tavarekere.
  • Twelve entrances, A to L: A to C on the Jayadeva Hospital and Jayanagar side, D to F towards BTM Layout 1st Stage, G to I towards BTM Layout 2nd Stage, and J to L towards JP Nagar 3rd Phase. Lifts are at B, E, H and K; escalators at A, D, G and J.
  • Pink Line timings: BMRCL has not yet published the Pink Line timetable; we will add it to the Pink Line page as soon as it is out.

Journeys that need one or two changes

Most cross-city trips on Namma Metro now involve at least one of these three stations. Some common examples:

Hulimavu to Electronic CityPink Line 3 stops to Jayadeva Hospital, then Yellow Line 9 stops1 (Jayadeva Hospital)
Kalena Agrahara to BTM LayoutPink Line 4 stops to Jayadeva Hospital, then Yellow Line 1 stop1 (Jayadeva Hospital)

Last trains when you change lines

If you are changing lines late in the evening, the connection is your real deadline, not the last train on your first line. From the BMRCL timetable (see our full first and last train guide):

  • Majestic: the last Green Line trains pass around 11:30 to 11:40 PM.
  • RV Road: the last Yellow Line train towards Bommasandra leaves at 11:55 PM, the latest train on the whole network.
  • Coming back from Electronic City: the last Yellow Line train from Bommasandra towards RV Road leaves at 10:42 PM, much earlier than the other direction.
  • Rule of thumb: start the first leg of a journey with a change before 11:00 PM.

Every station page on StationSeekers shows live next-train times and today’s last train for that station.

Interchanges coming next

More interchanges are under construction. BMRCL has not confirmed opening dates for any of them:

  • MG Road: the Pink Line’s underground section meets the Purple Line.
  • Nagawara: the Pink Line’s northern end, planned as an interchange with the Blue Line towards the airport.
  • Central Silk Board: the Yellow Line meets the Blue Line’s Silk Board to KR Puram section.
  • KR Puram: the Purple Line meets the Blue Line.

Follow the Pink Line live updates for the next openings.

Tips for changing lines without getting lost

  • Read the platform number, not just the colour. At Majestic and Jayadeva, both platforms of a line are on the same level but serve opposite directions.
  • At Majestic, decide your direction before going up to the Purple Line. Its two platforms are on opposite sides of the tracks.
  • At RV Road, you only need platform 3 for the Yellow Line. Every train goes to Bommasandra.
  • At Jayadeva, Pink is up and Yellow is down. Platform numbers 1 and 2 are Yellow; 3 and 4 are Pink.
  • Two different JP Nagar stations: JP Nagar 4th Phase (Pink Line) is not the Green Line’s JP Nagar station. See our guide to the two JP Nagar stations.
